Was Dell actually FIRST?? - UltraSharp 40" Curved WUHD Monitor

Win a Yeelight Mystery Box valued at $299 at bit.ly/YeelightRaffle_ShortCircuits
So Dell wasn't first, well, not exactly, but we're not too sure what we think about this monitor. Is it something of value to have it curved or even at 5K? Well, maybe, but if you're going to release it now, it needs to have HDMI 2.1 at least!
The monitor isn't available yet but see Dell's other monitors at lmg.gg/5dC12

I like you. You are knowledgeable. But I'm not sure I agree with every conclusion here. You said at 11:24 that his monitor has "nothing new" compared to the LG 34WK95U. So I downloaded the manual for the LG and found that the Dell has two "new features" that are very important to me. One is the ability to use the monitor as a KVM, and the other is USB-C support. My two computers have USB-C but no DisplayPort. P.S. I didn't follow why you said we would want to use DisplayPort, did you mean rather than HDMI, or did you mean rather than the USB-C port? Were you implying that DisplayPort is better than USB-C? I'm guessing that you meant only if the user had to choose between HDMI or DisplayPort. Sure, I would have to pay US$500 more, but the Dell has got 31% more screen area and it has both the KVM and the USB-C connection type I require, so the LG just won't work for me.

Only downside is that it's 60hz, but at least it can be slightly overclocked. I'll keep playing with dogecoin and hopefully get this monitor soon.

Have you heard of Realfiction Holding? A Danish company that develops a true holographic display technology they call Echo. Free-floating holograms that require no glasses, devices or other lenses between the human eye and the effect. With proof of concept and patents, they aim for the major display-manufacturers to have the technology in their screens for sale at low cost as early as 2023. Project ECHO represents the pinnacle of Realfiction’s dreams and vision, by symbolizing ”the holy grail of 3D” where 3D objects can be viewed and interacted with from different angles. ”the license package shall enable mass production of full-sized, high resolution multi-user ECHO 3D holographic display products at a price point affordable for a broad consumer base after scaling the production to meet the expected global demand.” www.realfiction.com/innovation In addition to being able to display holographic images, an upside is that the Echo-display requires 80% less electricity than ordinary displays resulting in huge savings of the electricity production equivalent of 56 TWh of electricity and 25 million tons of CO2 only in the United States. Small savings for each household but globally it would help achieve the energy saving targets Their technology is completely unique. "Realfiction previously announced that novelty searches from both Budde Schou and the Danish Patent and Trademark Office were carried out. Neither Budde Schou nor the Danish Patent and Trademark Office found any known techniques which challennged the novelty of the ECHO technology.

I am actually glad they are brining a 40" back to the market, even though its only an ultrawide. I could game on this pretty well if it does do 75hz. I wish they would bring back more 40 inch 4k displays. I actually found it to be the sweet spot in most games instead of 32 inch 4k. The 40 inch 4k allows some games such as MMO's to give larger HUD and toolbar displays. Easier on the eyes then the 32 inch 4k. I would love if they would make a 40inch 4k IPS 144hz monitor. But this ultrawide is not bad at all, except for the price. Should be perhaps $1200 or so, not $2000!

I can plug in one cable for charging the laptop, video, and USB accessories. The 100 watts power delivery (I know the new one is 90w.) allows me to run something heavy and the battery doesn't discharge even while plugging in. When I have a meeting just unplug one cable and get going. The wide screen is enough for a browser, IDE, and a terminal opening side by side where I don't have to turn my head as in the dual-screen setting. Anyway, love all of you guys' channels! What this monitor offers is REAL ESTATE. I was one of the early adopters of 34" ultrawides 7 years ago so now that I am so used to that size it feels fairly small to me that is why I skipped the 34" 5k2k 2 years ago. This one is the same height and vertical resolution as a 31.5" 4k monitor so it is the sweetspot in terms of size and resolution. You don't have to shift your head up and down like in those giant 42.5" 16:9 panels and you actually get RGB subpixels instead of BGR or WRGB (OLED). This will fill your FoV much better than a 49" super uw (I own one) as it is taller and is also slightly bigger than the 38" 1600p uw panels. I have been waiting for this form factor for years but I'll wait another 2-3 years until the high refresh versions come out.

I've seen reports of burn-in for the LG monitor online. I've been waiting for any other 5K2K monitor to be released.

I like James because he doesn't beat around the bushes. I like the "it's shit - don't buy" perspective. Everybody is always so "well it depends on what you want" - bitch just tell me if it's good or not based on your educated opinion. Don't worry about what I want.

Is the plug different from HDMI2.0 and HDMI2.1 ? Or is it just a software thing ?
